Obituary for Edwin Clark Woodmansee

WINSTED – Edwin Clark Woodmansee, 75, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, August 18, 2018. Born May 16, 1943 in Westerly, RI; the son of the late George and Hazel (Richmond) Woodmansee.

Ed proudly served in the U.S. Navy during Vietnam as a Signalman. He lived in Georgia for 38 years and moved to Winsted in 2010. He was a member of the American Legion Post 38 in Torrington and The Blanche McCarthy Senior Center in Winsted. Ed volunteered at the Open Door Soup Kitchen in Winsted, the Warner Theatre in Torrington, the Foothills VNA Hospice in Winsted, the New Hartford Senior Center and the Burrville Fire Volunteer Fire Department.

He is survived by his long time companion, Janet Bailey of Winsted; son, Kenneth J. Williams of NE; daughter, Terrie Lynn Albert of Winsted; many stepchildren; 17 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; 6 great great grandchildren; three brothers, Robert, Michael and Gerald Woodmansee; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Kevin Shea; stepson, Roger Price; brother, George Woodmansee, Jr.; and sisters, Joyce Matteson, Barbara Woodmansee and Marjorie Woodmansee.

Friends may call on Sunday, August 26, 2018 at Montano-Shea Funeral Home, 922 Main Street, Winsted from 2 – 4 PM with a funeral service at 4 PM. Burial will be held on Monday, August 27, 2018 at Forest View Cemetery at 11 AM with full Military Honors. Visit an online guestbook at Montano-shea.com.
