Obituary for Joseph DiPippo

DIPIPPO – Joseph DiPippo, 86, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 17, 2017 with his granddaughter by his side.

He was the loving husband of Gloria (Wilcox) DiPippo for 66 years. Born February 5, 1931 in Torrington; the son of the late Generoso and Giovannina (Vitale) DiPippo. Joe proudly served in the Marine Corps during the Korean War. He owned and operated DiPippo Plumbing and Heating for many years until his retirement.

He and Gloria enjoyed many winters in Naples, FL where he worked as a golf ranger and spent time gardening and watching the wildlife near their home. His family and traditions were the most important thing in his life and as most knew, he would never pass up the opportunity for a giant bowl of chocolate ice cream.

In addition to his wife, Joe leaves behind his two beloved daughters, Sharon Banelli (Richard) of Torrington and Cynthia DiPippo-Borrelli of Winsted; cherished grandchildren, Keatha Todd (Tripp) of New Bern, NC, Brian Banelli of Boynton Beach, FL, and Francesca Borrelli of Winsted; two great-granddaughters, Illyana Borrelli of Winsted and Rylee Todd of New Bern, NC. He is also survived by two sisters, Lucy Fenn and Elizabeth Conrod, both of Torrington, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Angelo and Francesco DiPippo and 5 sisters, Jean Repas, Christine Hricko, Celeste Gath, Rose Fedor and Carmella Marcantonio.

Joe had a positive influence on the lives of so many around him and he will be greatly missed. The family would like to thank Dr. Richard Krinsky and the nurses, techs and staff at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital in ICU, 4th and the 5th floors for the excellent care and compassion they showed to him as well as his family. Additionally, the family would like to thank the three women from Companions and Homemakers that provided such selfless and generous care.

Montano-Shea Funeral Home, 922 Main Street, Winsted has care of the arrangements.
