She then worked as a civilian for the U.S. Military during World War II, where she met the love of her life, William Joseph Dickson. Mary and Bill married in San Antonio, TX in 1945. They were married for 66 years.

Mary and Bill settled in New Canaan, CT to raise their family as Bill worked for General Electric in NYC. Mary was incredibly crafty. She was a tole painter, enjoyed pottery, stitchery and quilting. She has left many handmade treasures and wrapped all her grandchildren in “Nanna Blankets,” quilts made by hand with love in every stitch.
