Obituary for Michael Kelly Healey

NEW HARTFORD – Lieutenant Michael Kelly Healey, 56, passed away on October 13, 2019. He was the very loving husband of Jill (Sullivan) Healey for 24 years celebrating their anniversary on October 14. Born August 17, 1963 in New Haven; the seventh out of nine children of the late Honorable Arthur H. Healey and Frances (Murphy) Healey. Michael received a B.S. in Geography from Salisbury University in Maryland where he ran varsity cross country. He first served as a State Capitol Police Officer where he met the love of his life. Since 1993, he has been proudly serving the Bristol Police Department, Badge #109 receiving numerous awards and commendations as well as life-saving medal and “Officer of the Year” in 2001. Michael enjoyed fishing, ice fishing, history and hiking. He had a great love of New Haven Harbor, Winchester Lake and Brodie Park. Mike also was talented in various forms of Martial arts. He was a protector, wonderful man, husband, dad, son, brother and friend and he is already missed beyond measure. In addition to his devoted wife, he leaves his cherished children, Garrett, Luke and Mary, all of New Hartford; his loving mother-in-law, Mary Sullivan of Winsted; his beloved siblings, Theresa Healey of WA, Monica Waldron (Jerome) of MD, Moira Healey of East Haven, Arthur Healey (Beth) of Clinton, Alicia Sledzik (Anthony) of Higganum, Francis Healey (Sally) of Middletown, Matthew Healey (Alyson) of East Haven and Anne Healey (Randy) of New Haven; brothers-in-law, Mark Sullivan (Cindy Fixer) of Colebrook and Todd Sullivan, PhD of New Haven; numerous nieces and nephews; many friends and his family in blue which he has dedicated his life to and honorably stood beside. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2019 at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 51 Church Street, Pine Meadow at 11 AM. Parking will be located at the Collinsville Antiques parking lot, 283 Main Street, New Hartford where Bristol police will be shuttling people over to the church location. Additional parking will be available at Jeanine Fund Raising lot, 8 Wickett Street, New Hartford Elementary School, 40 Wickett Street and Pine Meadow Fire Co, 366 Main Street. There will be no calling hours. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family. Montano-Shea Funeral Home, 5 Steele Road, New Hartford has care of the arrangements.
