Obituary for Mary Dileo

NEW HARTFORD – Mary (Sequenzia) Dileo, 88, went home to Heaven on Thursday, October 31, 2019. She was the loving wife of the late Joseph Dileo, Sr., for 64 years. Born October 18, 1931 in Winsted; the daughter of the late Paul and Josephine (Mancua) Sequenzia. She operated the Park Hotel and the Brookside Restaurant in Barkhamsted and turned that into the Valley Diner that she and Joe ran for 15 years before building The Log House Restaurant directly behind it in 1972. The Log House is still owned and operated by the Dileo family and has become her legacy of hard work, good food and family. Mary was renowned for the loving way she greeted each of her customers and her famous cream pies. She was a devout communicant of Our Lady of Hope Parish (formerly Immaculate Conception Church) in New Hartford. We have lost a wonderful woman who loved her family, her friends and this community through her actions and many kindnesses. She is survived by her beloved children, Gary Dileo and wife Barbara, Doreen Thomas, Rosemarie “Rose” Plante, Joseph “Joe” Dileo, Jr., and Paul Dileo; 17 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; a sister, Connie Del’Agnese; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a grandson, Cole Joseph Litke and two sisters, Tillie and Lena. Friends may call on Tuesday, November 5, 2019 at Our Lady of Hope Parish, New Hartford from 4 -7 PM. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, November 6, 2019 at Our Lady of Hope Parish, (formerly Immaculate Conception Church), New Hartford at 10 AM. Burial will follow at St. Peter’s Mausoleum, 236 E. Pearl Road, Torrington. Montano-Shea Funeral Home, 5 Steele Road, New Hartford has care of the arrangements.
