Obituary for Malcolm "Mac" N. Wilson

BARKHAMSTED – Malcolm “Mac” N. Wilson, 77, passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer on July 4, 2019 at his home surrounded by his family. Mac was the devoted husband of Carol (Desjardin) Wilson for 57 years. Born on January 11, 1942 in Manchester, CT; he was the son of the late James and Mildred (Neill) Wilson. Mac proudly served in the Coast Guard for from 1960-1964. He worked as Maintenance Supervisor for the MDC for 37 years and was an accomplished carpenter and cabinet maker. Mac was an active member of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Pine Meadow. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. In addition to his loving wife, Carol, Mac is survived by his two children, Thomas J. Wilson of Tyler, Texas and Rebecca (Wilson) Sepples and her husband Patrick of Barkhamsted; grandchildren, Zachary Wilson of Chicago, Cameron Wilson of Boston, Jacob and Caroline Travaglin and Catherine Sepples, all of Barkhamsted; sisters, Sherrill Sadler and husband James and Holly Donato; sisters-in-law, Joan Caine and husband Ronald and Mary Chichester and husband Ken; along with several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 20, 2019 at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 51 Church Street, Pine Meadow at 2 PM with full Military Honors. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: St. John’s Episcopal Church or Foothills Visiting Nurses Assn., 32 Union Street, Winsted, CT 06098. The family would like to give a special thank you to the visiting nurses who worked tirelessly to make Mac’s journey as comfortable as possible and to Shirley his caregiver whose gentle and dignified ministrations were truly appreciated.
