Obituary for Josephine Rena Young

WINSTED –

YOUNG – Josephine “Rena” Young, 86, died peacefully on Sunday, November 19, 2017. She was the loving wife of the late Marshall Young for 35 years. Rena was born on August 15, 1931, to Edward and Josephine (Bo) Gili. She grew up on the family farm in South Albany, VT.

She worked at Executive Greetings and The Hartford for many years and the Cornucopia for over 35 years where everyone often called her “Ma.” Rena was full of life and everyone who knew her loved her. She loved working with people and had a way of making everyone feel like “part of the family.” Her warm smile and sense of humor will be missed by all.

Rena was the youngest of ten children. She was rich with family. She enjoyed spending time with her 12 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. She had a special bond with each and every one of them. She traveled with her family on many trips including; Las Vegas, NV, Puerto Rico, Florida and numerous camping trips. She lived a full life and had many special friends.

She is survived by her 7 children, Regina and Kevin Lynch, Valerie and Matt McDonald, Steven and Susan Young, JoAnn and Michael Leifert, Karen and Mark Lombardo, all of Winsted, Michelle Young of Torrington and Sandi Young of FL; stepson, Dennis and Donna Young of VT; and sister, Margaret Wright. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by brothers, John and Ernest; and sisters, Marie Chiovetti, Rose Sanville, Alice Voyer, Louise McElroy, Laura Gonyaw and Bertha Shortsleeve.

Friends may call on Sunday, November 26, 2017 at Montano-Shea Funeral Home, 922 Main Street, Winsted from 2 – 4 PM. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family in Vermont. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: Geer Nursing. Visit an online guestbook at Montano-shea.com.
