TORRINGTON –

WAGNER – George R. Wagner, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 14, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family. He was the loving husband of Linda (Geehring) Wagner for 25 years. Born June 11, 1939 in Winsted; the son of the late Gerald and Elizabeth (Bristol) Wagner.

George lived in Canton most of his life until 2009 when he moved to Torrington. He worked for the Town of Canton for 20 years retiring in 2008 and then working for Martel Transportation driving a school bus until he had to leave in 2017 due to his health. He was a proud member of AFMA Country Western Club for 23 years. He loved his Harley Davidson, working on his vegetable gardens, and spending time outdoors and with his family.

In addition to his wife, he leaves a step-daughter, Sherrilynn Garney of Northford; step-grandson, Cody Brakett of NY; and many cousins, extended family and close friends.

Friends may call on Saturday, August 19, 2017 at the Montano-Shea Funeral Home, 922 Main Street, Winsted from 9 – 10 AM with a memorial service at 10 AM with Pastor Larry Crasilli officiating. Burial will follow at Dyer Cemetery, Canton. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to; Hartford Health Care, Hospice Services, 680 Main Street, Suite 300, Watertown, CT 06795 and/or Second Congregational Church of Derby, CT 06418.
